Sicily lands in Catalonia. The debate is open.
Opened in 2022 in the Barrio Gótico, Damplo Barcelona occupies a Modernista building that Ciccio describes as "Gaudí, but with more arancino." The menu combines Sicilian tradition with local ingredients in what he calls "respectful fusion" and the Catalans call "courage." The Catalan-style pulpo with smoked paprika soil has become the restaurant's symbol — and the subject of a heated debate between Sicilian and Galician fishermen over whose octopus is superior. Ciccio has declared he takes no position and serves both, depending on the emotional season.
